Welcome! Makin' Medicine, which is based in Stillwater Oklahoma, primarily represents my own handcrafted art and designs. New to Makin' Medicine is deerskin belts that double as a shawl and bucking bull fetishes! Spirit horses, usually painted realistic colors, have symbolic markings and are adorned with leather, beadwork, feathers and horsehair. Each spirit horse is numbered, signed and comes with a bit of history, an explanation and a story of that horse. Fetishes are something that resembles an animal or object and in turn holds power. I bead buffalo, bear, thunderbird, cross, and pony fetishes, attached to each are their power meaning. I create beaded medicine bags and fully beaded medicine wheels, and I also do feather work. Beautiful, nature inspired, all season wreaths and christmas wreaths, can be found here as well as unique leather christmas stockings and leather window treatments. Makin' Medicine became a gallery when I brought in some of my favorite items, including smudge sticks and sweetgrass, Scout Cloud Lee's medicine bags and one of her many books, The Circle is Sacred, Woody Crumbo prints and Karen Hamel-Noble's autobiography, Through These Your Hands with Mine. Wanna-be-War Ponies were inspired by my son, Suede, who has since became the best stick horse rider this side of the Mississippi.
